The equipment will have its own protection, a differential switch sized to the needs of the installation, in the event of any derivation, as well as its circuit breaker for any short circuit or excess consumption that may occur in the equipment itself. Carry out compliance with the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations (REBT) and Occupational Risk Prevention (PRL) according to their standards. Warnings regarding equipment handling and service procedures.

Direct contact: In the event of any negligence that may occur in the handling of the equipment, the following precautions must be taken: It is very important that the start-up or handling of the equipment is carried out by specialized personnel. Before opening the electrical panel, make sure the main switch is off. There is grounding of the equipment. Have sufficient insulation or coating of live parts. Maintain safety distances with respect to other possible electrical risks of the installation in the case of installations inside an electrical cabinet. Maintain a safe place of work, without the interposition of obstacles or other objects that could put people’s health at risk. Use personal protection elements in case you have to manipulate the equipment. Others: The equipment is designed to modify the inductive load of the entire installation regardless of the location of the loads in the installation. The equipment will be connected to a differential switch (*). The equipment is closed in a box with type IP-44 insulation. Do not install outdoors. During installation, the connections must be secured to avoid bad contacts and wiring errors. The fixing on the wall must be firm to prevent it from moving. It is convenient to place it in an area away from sources of flammable gas, in a dry place and protected from the sun’s rays. The installation must be carried out in a well-ventilated place, and if applicable, if it were inside a closet, it must have good ventilation and the cooling system must have in perfect condition. Do not cover the equipment. WARNING: The manipulation of the saving equipment on the part of maintenance personnel or unauthorized technician will suppose the total loss of the product guarantee. This chapter contains the procedures for installation before first use. This manual is intended to guide the installer technician on the assembly of GREEN CORPORATE ENERGY energy saving equipment, however and due to the different types of existing installation, the technician himself may apply his professional judgment, always with the support and authorization of the technical department of Green Corporate Energy.

Safety reminders

Make sure that the main switch of the electrical panel where the energy saver is to be connected is open. To ensure good performance and prevent device failure, do not expose the system to extreme humidity, such as direct exposure to rain. Such exposure can cause equipment damage and abnormal operation. The installation must be carried out by an authorized and qualified professional or technician, and always complying with the occupational risk prevention regulations (PRL) and the low voltage regulation (REBT) with respect to the installation to be carried out. Do not use any element or part of the equipment (cables, mechanisms, …) that appear damaged. Use elements for the installation indicated in this manual. Performing an installation with elements not indicated may cause adverse results in the performance of the equipment.

Unpacking and inspection

The energy saver is shipped in a single cardboard box. Examine the cardboard carefully and completely for evidence of damage. Contact Green Corporate Energy Technical Services immediately if the box appears damaged. In case of possible damage, do not return the energy saver before contacting Green Corporate Energy technical service. Once the equipment has been received, it is convenient to check:
  • The equipment is without any type of damage due to the transport of the package.
  • The equipment corresponds to the characteristics (power, voltage, …) of the purchase request.
  • The equipment has each of the parts indicated in this manual.

List of components

Together with the Energy Saver, the necessary materials for a standard installation will be provided, sized as indicated, clearly showing all the materials that, together with the saving equipment to be assembled, will be needed to carry out the installation. In addition to the corresponding accessory material (surface box, register box, conductive wire, dropouts, etc.), the protections that must be used for each model of equipment are indicated, this data being of vital importance for subsequent assembly. In any case, it is recommended that in the event of a specific need for material, it is communicated to Green Corporate Energy in order to coordinate the shipment of this extraordinary material, or, in the case of detecting this lack of material during the execution of an installation, is purchased on its own with the approval of the technical department of Green Corporate Energy. The full payment of this material will be made together with the liquidation of the installation. Network connection

TP equipment must be connected to a suitable power source. In the event that the integrity of the AC power supply is in doubt, check the electrical network before installation. Installation characteristics depending on whether the electrical distribution system is TT or TN Equipment grounding system following safety regulations: The extent of the ground fault and the consequences of touching live exposed conductive parts are specifically related to the state of the power system neutral and the types of system grounding. Therefore, to select the appropriate device for the protection against earth faults it is necessary to know the distribution system of the installation. The international standard IEC 60364-3 classifies electrical systems using a combination of two letters. The first letter indicates the connection of the power system with the earth:
  • T: Direct connection to ground of a point, normally the neutral, in AC systems.
The second letter indicates the relationship between the exposed conductive parts of the installation and ground:
  • T: direct electrical connection between exposed conductive parts and ground;
  • N – Direct electrical connection between exposed conductive parts and power system grounded point.

TT system

The TT system, neutral, and exposed conductive parts are connected to electrically independent ground electrodes (Figure 1); therefore, the earth fault current returns to the supply node through the ground (figure 2).

    figura 2   In this type of electrical installations, the neutral is usually distributed and its function is to ensure that the pass-through voltage (eg 230V) is for the supply of single-phase loads in civil installations.

TN system

In TN systems, the neutral is directly grounded, while exposed conductive parts are connected to the same neutral ground. TN electrical systems can be divided into three types depending on whether the neutral and the protective conductors are separated or not: TN-S: the neutral conductor N and the protective conductor PE are separated:   figura 3   TN-C: The protective and neutral conductor are combined in a single conductor, called PEN:   figura 4 TN-C-S: the protective conductor and the neutral are partially combined in a single PEN conductor and partially separated PE + N:   figura 5   In TN systems, the earth fault current returns to the supply node through a direct metallic connection (PE or PEN conductor) practically without affecting the earth electrode: figura 6   Conclusions: TT distribution system Main application for domestic installations and the like. Small industries with LV power supply. Typical value of fault currents: 10 – 100 A Remarks: TT distribution systems are used when it is impossible to guarantee the distribution of the protective conductor (PE), and when it is advisable to let the user take care of the protection against indirect contacts. TN distribution system Main application for industrial and large installations with MV power supply. Typical value of fault currents: 10 – 100 A Observations: TN distribution systems are the systems through which power is distributed to users who have their own transformer substation; In these cases, the protective conductor can be easily guaranteed.

Schematic and installation

Before connecting to the power supply, perform a safety check of the equipment:
  • Inspect equipment for mechanical and functional damage or deterioration.
  • Inspect the relevant safety labels for readability. Contact Green Corporate Energy technical service for replacement.
The equipment has approximately 100 cm of conductor internally connected, in some cases insufficient to reach the electrical panel and therefore it will be necessary to use an intermediate register box between it and the saving equipment. All connections between conductors will be made in the junction box or inside the electrical panel itself, never directly inside the tube or pipeline, and the conductors to be used will always be halogen-free. Connections between conductors will be made using approved connection strips. The protective tube must be perfectly dimensioned for the route of the conductors. It will be completely inserted inside the boxes or register boxes, using the openings intended for it or practicing new openings through the appropriate crown, thus making a totally watertight installation. The protections, differential and magnetothermic, will be installed if possible in the existing panel in the installation, as long as there is space for it. If this is not possible, they will be installed in the surface box designed for that purpose. (*) It is not necessary for the differential and the circuit breaker to be installed together, being able to install them in different rows from the existing panel itself if with this we avoid installing the surface panel. (*) The differential will always have the neutral connected even though the circuit breaker is three-phase, in this way we ensure that in the event of an electrical leakage, the differential is triggered. (*) It is important to connect the earth conductor to the terminal of the equipment box marked with the earth symbol. Start up

Before connecting the equipment to the electrical network, check that all the connections that have been made are correct and then;
  • Close the mains power switch.
  • Check that the equipment is working correctly.
Location As a general rule, the location of the saver should be as close to the general picture of the installation, placing both the equipment and the accessory elements (register box and surface box), preferably and for reasons of space and aesthetic use, in the top / bottom of this. If this location is not possible, the most suitable place will be sought, always trying to maintain a consonance with the nearby elements. To fasten the equipment and accessories, the small material supplied will be used: screws, washers, flanges, etc. It is extremely important to carry out a well-executed installation, mounting the equipment and all the accessories within the best aesthetics and in uniformity with the nearby facilities. It is advisable to keep the equipment away from a source of heat and that it is well ventilated.  

Performance and considerations

The equipment may not obtain a good operating performance if the desired cosphi is not reached, this may be due to some anomaly in the equipment and in this case contact Green Corporate Energy.

Preventive Maintenance

Green Corporate Energy recommends that a qualified technician perform the following checks every 12 months.
      1. Inspect the equipment for mechanical and functional damage or deterioration of all its components.
      2. Inspect the tightness of the connection terminals.
      3. Inspection of the state of the equipment mechanisms.
      4. Inspects the relevant security labels for readability.
      5. Equipment performance inspection (consumption,…) to verify correct operation.
